Code / Description
It is a common practice to replace or refresh the design of a database when developing an application, especially when working from a template. However, the process can become quite cumbersome since it involves a number of clicks and scrolling to reach the desired template. Using the executable below you can now speed up your design replaces/refreshes during development to a single mouse click.

Installation Instructions
Create a folder anywhere on your computer and detach the three files included into the folder.

Drag the tweakReplace.exe icon from the folder to the Bookmarks toolbar in Lotus Notes. Do the same for the tweakRefresh.exe icon.

Open the config.ini file in a text editor and configure the settings to point to the template you will be using to replace the design of a database. If you are using the tweakRefresh feature you only need to specify the server in the config.ini

Revision to tweakRefresh (07.29.2005)
----------------------------------------------------------
- Specify the server as "choose", so that you are able to select a refresh from a list of servers

Usage / Example
Using tweakReplace/Refresh
While having the database you would like the updated open or selected from the Workspace, click on the tweakReplace or tweakRefresh icon from the Bookmarks toolbar. That's it!

I have always felt that the Notes interface - especially for a designer is incredibly poorly designed for ergonomic useability.
This simple app is a substantial improvement to the process of refreshing/replacing design.
I would like to see the ability to store 2 servers in the config though (i.e.Local and server)
Posted by Jorge A Coelho on 07/29/2005 05:42:21 AMAny Suggestions?
Any suggestions on how the process would work to select which server to use? I want to make sure that this remains simple.
Posted by Paul Davies on 07/29/2005 09:13:34 AMmultiple server
Maybe the best option would be to leave the user at the select server option
this could be set up as a variable in the config file

That works for the refresh and I'll see if I can put together a revision that will do just that. However, the replace really provides value because the template is known ahead of time along with the server. If you have any ideas on that I would be willing to consider some enhancements for that component as well.
Posted by Paul Davies on 07/29/2005 09:56:47 AMI rarely use Replace
so I'm not best placed to offer a suggestion on this

A revised version of tweakRefresh is now available.

Is there an R5 version, or will this version work with R5?
Posted by Jorge A Coelho on 08/11/2005 11:16:20 AMNot at This Time
I haven't received many requests for a R5 version. One of the nice things about the ND6 interface is the ability to drag program icons right to your bookmarks.
However, if there is enough interest, I'll put some time into it and post an update.

unfortunately this product does not work with Notes 8. I am already missing it!
Any chance of an upgrade?
