Levels of Involvement
OpenNTF user:
Everyone can be consumers of code from OpenNTF. In order to use code from the catalog under the Apache license no registration or authentication is required.
OpenNTF registered user:
OpenNTF encourages users to register (
see here
) since registered users can interact with other people on the OpenNTF site, e.g. they can report defects, post questions, etc.
Members:
Any organization can, with the approval of the steering committee, join the OpenNTF. Members can influence the strategy and direction of OpenNTF as well as having a page on the OpenNTF site to describe themselves. Members are expected to contribute to the OpenNTF where the contribution can take the form of code, in kind donations, financial contributions, or other contributions as approved by the steering committee. In order to become an official member please contact the OpenNTF Board of Directors (send email with this signed
document
to
ip-manager@openntf.org
).
Contributors:
Contributors can contribute code to OpenNTF. Contributors don't have to work for a company who is member of OpenNTF. See below for how to become a contributor and how to actually contribute code.
Committers:
Contributors who make frequent and valuable contributions can be appointed to the role of a “Committer” for one or more projects. Committers have write access to the software repository for the associated projects.
